Human Rights Watch, PDF Conversion & Development


Digital Interactive has been retained by Human Rights Watch for a number of years to produce its annual “Landmine Monitor Report” CD-ROM. The project involves the conversion of the annual tome that contains over 1100 pages encapsulating the international progress in monitoring the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty. As well as the conversion of main document many supplementary documents in a variety of formats and languages are also converted for inclusion on the CD. Digital Interactive has successfully integrated documents in Portuguese, Greek, Russian, Arabic and Japanese.

Each year the design challenge increases as additional documents are added to the previous years’ content. Digital Interactive has maintained a clean and simple interface while accommodating the diversification of texts to ensure a productive and satisfying user experience.

With over sixty seven hundred pages of text, tables and maps currently included and indexed for fast searching, barely one third of the CD capacity is utilized leaving ample room to monitor the progress of the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty for years to come.
